*  To help make His kingdom more visible in each of our lives

*  To provide a “safe” place to talk, share and draw closer to Jesus.

*  to foster an attitude of servant-hood in each believer’s heart.

*  To promote involvement and nurture leadership within the church.

BACKGROUND

Acts 2:42 Retreat Ministries, Inc. is a lay ministry begun in 1988 in the Reno-Sparks area.   A non-profit corporation was formed in 1998.   The purpose of the corporation is to provide retreats and seminars and participate and coordinate in other educational activities and special events that are based on the Holy Bible.

The main focus of this ministry is to build up the universal church body through the offering of an “Acts 2:42 Retreat”.  This ministry is not sponsored by a specific church and since it’s inception, 42 weekend retreats have taken place with guests from over 20 different churches attending the weekend.

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

There is one God, who has always existed and will always exist in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who are each equal in divine perfection and perform distinct, but harmonious functions in creation, redemption, and divine guidance.

Jesus Christ, both fully God and fully man, came to earth as God in human flesh, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided payment for our sins by His death on the cross, was resurrected bodily by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and lives to mediate for us.  The Lord Jesus Chris will personally, visibly, and gloriously return to this earth.

The Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, displays the power of God and indwells believers, baptizes them into the Body of Christ and seals them into the day of redemption.

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the complete and only Word of God.  It is infallible, fully inspired by God and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Man was created in the image of God, but because of his own selfishness deserves not only physical death, but also spiritual death- eternal separation form God.  Each human being is born with a sinful nature and cannot by his own efforts please God.  Salvation comes only by God’s grace and exclusively through faith in Christ, who paid the penalty for our sins through His blood which was shed and has satisfied God’s wrath against our sins.  Salvation comes exclusively through faith in the person and work of Christ.
